White block peat fraction 5-10 mm

The white block peat with fraction 5-10 mm originating from the Baltic Republics has been produced by screening mechanically fractured block peat (see Block peat).

Block peat with fraction 5-10 mm is primarily used in the production of peat-based substrates and planting soil. For the production of peat substrates, white block peat is a raw material of ideal structure in comparison with other types of horticultural peat. No other type of horticultural peat has that optimum air and water absorption of block peat. As a rule, block peat fractions are sold packaged. The block peat with fraction 5-10 mm has the following main characteristics:

1. Degree of decomposition H1 to H3 on the von Post scale.
2. pH (CaCl2) 3,0 – 4,1.
3. Water absorbency 900-1200 ml/100 g.
4. Minimum dry organic matter content 95%.
5. Water content 40-50%.
6. Volume weight 120-200 kg/m3.
7. Minimum content of particles larger than 5 mm max 20%.
